To accommodate this upgrade, the seller notes that 18-inch wheels are required for clearance due to the significant increase in rotor diameter and caliper size.

Fitment Details

This kit was designed for the W124.036 E500/500E, which originally utilized R129 500SL/SL500 front brakes. Early 500E models came with 300x28mm rotors, while mid-1993+ examples received 320x30mm rotors. This StopTech kit steps up dramatically to 355x32mm two-piece floating rotors.

The kit also fits the W124.034 400E/E420 which shares the same hub, knuckle, and steering arm as the 500E. For 400E/E420 fitment, the splash shield must be replaced with the equivalent R129 part to ensure proper clearance.

StopTech AeroRotor Technology

StopTech’s patented AeroRotor system uses directional vanes that widen toward the trailing edge to draw more air into the disc. This improves cooling efficiency by pushing significantly more airflow through the rotor, resulting in:

A system flush with high-temperature DOT4 fluid is strongly recommended when installing this kit.
